Prima intalnire din anul 2011 a fost dedicata festivalului de iarna care are loc in Sapporo in fiecare an, numit Yuki Matsuri, insemnand “Festivalul zapezii”. La inceputul intalnirii d-l Kawai a proiectat un scurt video numit “Cuvantul meu japonez preferat”, un filmulet amuzant in care mai multe persoane de diferite nationalitati impartaseau cuvantul sau expresia lor preferata din limba japoneza. La sfarsitul filmuletului, fiecare participant a avut ocazia sa impartaseasca la randul lui cuvantul sau preferat in limba japoneza.
Dupa aceea, un invitat special, cantaret de opera profesionist, domnul Emil Chiorean a cantat doua cantece frumoase, dintre care unul fiind o adaptare in limba romana a renumitului “O sole mio”. Cantecele au fost foarte puternice atat ca sens cat si ca muzicalitate.
Dupa scurtul moment muzical, d-ra. Minodora Buta a inceput prezentarea despre Yuki Matsuri, incepand cu o descriere a climatului Japoniei. Dat fiind faptul ca majoritatea zapezii din Japonia cade in Sapporo, festivalul are loc in Sapporo in fiecare an.
In 2011, festivalul va incepe in data de 7 februarie si va dura pana in data de 13 a aceleasi luni. Festivalul consta in expunerea de statui de zapada, sculpturi in gheata, concerte in aer liber, spectacole de lumini si altele.

Dupa ce a mai oferit cateva detalii despre festival, d-ra Minodora a aratat participantilor cateva filmulete de la festivalele anterioare, care subliniau frumusetea si complexitatea sculpturilor si a spectacolelor de lumini.
In final participantii au impartasit impresii despre festival si alte lucruri la o ceasca de ceai cald.

The first meeting that took place in 2011 was dedicated to the Winter
Festival that takes place in Sapporo each year called “Yuki Matsuri”, meaning “The Snow Festival”. In the beginning of the meeting a short YouTube video called “My Favorite Japanese Word” was projected. It was a funny video in which different people of different nationalities shared their favorite word or phrase in Japanese. At the end of the video, every participant had the chance to share his or her favorite word in Japanese, as well.
Festival that takes place in Sapporo each year called “Yuki Matsuri”, meaning “The Snow Festival”. It was a funny video in which different people of different nationalities shared their favorite word or phrase in Japanese. At the end of the video, every participant had the chance to share his or her favorite word in Japanese, as well.
Afterwards, a professional opera singer Mr. Emil Chiorean sang two beautiful songs, one of which was a Romanian adaptation of “O sole mio”. The songs were amazingly powerful in both meaning and musicality.
After Mr. Chiorean’s short performance, Ms. Minodora Buta started the actual presentation of “Yuki Matsuri”, beginning with a description of the climate. Since most of the snow in Japan falls in Sapporo, the Winter Festival is held in Sapporo every year.
In 2011, the Snow Festival will be held from 7th to 13th of February. The festival hosts snow statues, ice sculptures, concerts, light shows and so on. After a few more details about the festival, Ms. Minodora showed to the participants a few videos from the previous festivals where the beauty and complexity of the sculptures and light effects could be clearly seen.
In the end people shared their impressions about the festival and other unrelated things while having a cup of warm tea.
