The second meeting in January was organized bearing in mind that the students found themselves in the midst of their exam session. In this respect we decided to create a more relaxed atmosphere, avoiding the approach to some difficult and complicated Japanese cultural topic for the meeting, and choosing to project a Japanese animation movie, amusing and at a slow pace at the same time, to remind us of the beauty of childhood which most of us miss most of the time. We projected, thus, the anime Tonari no Totoro, in translation, My Neighbour, Totoro, a Studio Ghibli production, recognized for the anime movies that they produced.
It was a relaxing evening, indeed, we ate popcorn and laughed while watching the movie, and in the end we had a short discussion regarding some cultural aspects that were present in the movie. After discussions, we had a great meal prepared by the Kawai family, on behalf of Japan’s Friends Club, riceballs, called onigiri, and chicken barbecue, called yakitori.
We thank you for your presence and wish you good luck with the remaining exams. We hope that the relaxation moment paid off.
